My Ideal Place...

There has been B-E-A-utiful weather here in the Bay Area these past few days. And, it made me ponder a few things. Mainly, what I miss about San Diego. Well, I miss my friends, I miss being in college and ditching class to get a tan or do nothing. But I really miss the weather.

But I really like the city life here. I love not having to drive, although my rock star performance have decreased from car session rock outs to shower sing-a-longs. I like the liveliness that a big city brings and the fun and crazy people that I meet. Although, there definitely is a good deal of those in San Diego as well.

So, I have decided that the best of both worlds (yes, that is a Hannah Montana song) would be the San Francisco city lifestyle and the San Diego weather (and beaches). I would be such a happy camper if I could actually get my daily dose of vitamin D through the tall city buildings. But, I guess that great weather is something that I must sacrifice for the city life. I can deal with it- for now :)

So, I am going to savor this weather for however long it lasts. I have tried to refrain from checking weather.com so that I don't get depressed when I see the little sun icon hidden behind the rain clouds....or no sun icon at all. And for now I will dust of my summer dresses and hide my pea coat...for the next few days at least.

A Visit with my Family

Happy Saturday Everyone!! I am in Orange County for the weekend, visiting my family and seeing my grandma. She was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's and hasn't been doing very well, so I decided to come on down to visit and hang out with good ol' Nona K.

I was looking forward to some nicer weather down here, but it is cloudy and cold today. Granted, not as cloudy and cold as it is in Northern California, but, cold none the less. At least I can leave my jacket at the house!! Yay!!

We went to visit my grandma last night after my flight got in and she is doing ok. She was diagnosed a few months ago, but last week things got really bad and she had to be in the hospital for three days. So, she is at a convalescent hospital to do some therapy and hopefully come home soon. I have been lucky enough to have all my grandparents since I was little. Except my Dad's Dad since he passed away when my Dad was younger. So, seeing my grandma be sick is really hard since I haven't had to watch any of my grandparents battle and major diseases or sicknesses.

It didn't take long to see that my Nona K doesn't like being at this convalescent home at all. I mean, I am not sure many people would, but my Nona doesn't try to hide it at all. She can't stand her roommate- which is funny because the woman is the nicest little old lady you could find. She doesn't talk at all and re-adjusts her bed all the time. Ok, that might annoy me too. But my Nona K just gives her these funny looks, rolling her eyes at me and I can't help but laugh. And there are a lot of weird noises at this place- it seems to me to be too loud for a place for old people. All the noises kind of freak out my Nona. I told her I would bring her ear plugs today. She goes "Good idea, just put them in, turn 'em on and GOOD DAY!!" I couldn't stop laughing!

We are headed over to go visit her again and bring her lunch (and the ear plugs of course!!). She wants In-N-Out Burger...so I am thinking this is a good sign she is on her way to recovery and should be headed home soon! I mean, In-N-Out can heal anything!!

hope you all are enjoying this great Saturday. It is my favorite day of the week!!

xoxo and much love,
kelsey

BART Chronicals, Part 2

Ok, so this didn't happen today, but it is definitely worth mentioning! I was headed home from another great day at work. I walk down into the BART station and jump onto the BART train that is so graciously holding its' doors open for me. I sit down, hear "the doors are closing. please stand clear of the doors," the kind reminder to GET OUT OF THE WAY!! Then, this lady with a roller backpack (I bet you can tell where this is going) decides to try and sneak in the train at the last second.

OK, she makes it in, but her stupid backpack and half of her arm are now obstructing the door. So, a kind gentleman jumps up and pries the doors open so the lady can get in. She gets her other half in the train, sits in a seat and acts like nothing has happened at all. Then, over the loud speak we hear "The doors on this train are obstructed. Please move away from the doors." The guy has broken one of the doors trying to help this dumb lady get in. Now, one of the doors won't close- and this is the middle of rush hour. AWESOME.

So, "door lady" as I am not referring to her, just sits there and doesn't help AT ALL. Some other man gets up to talk to the BART operator, while someone else tried to pull the door closed. Nothing. People are taking this opportunity to get on the already crowded, not to mention BROKEN train. Seriously?! Then, a BART worker runs down to our train to try and fix the door and isn't successful. He runs away and comes back again, while the lady on the loud speaker says "I'm about to take this train out of service if the door doesn't close." UGH.

The poor BART worker has run back and forth trying to shut the stupid broken door so we can move and stop delaying trains. He finally fixes it - with cheers from people in the train and on the platform...I kid you not.

And this lady who caused this commotion in the first place JUST SITS THERE THE WHOLE TIME!!! I could not believe it. If you are going to break a door, at least try to help fix it or be the person to talk to the BART operator. Some people...anyways. That is what you get for having a roller backpack...

To Link or Not To Link....That is the Question

When it was my birthday Michael, my sister, her boyfriend, Crazy Sue (my mom) and I went and saw "He's Just Not That Into You." Luckily, I have an amazing boyfriend, so I wasn't able to relate to the title. Lord knows after 4 years he is still into me! :) It was a cute movie, not the best, but cute. Great ensemble cast with great moments and a few good laughs. 1.5 thumbs up...Anyways, one scene that has stuck in my head is this:

So, I feel like this is life, but instead of with guys, it is with the various networks I am a part of online...facebook, twitter, my blog, g-chat status, linkedin, emails, myspace, etc. I have so many different places to update people on my oh-so-fabulous life that I am never sure who knows what and what I want which people to know.

It IS exhausting!

So, I am contemplating linking my twitter and facebook statuses so that when I update one, the other says the same thing. But here is my dilemma...do I want my my fellow tweeters (is that the right term?) to know what my facebook friends know? And vice versa?! As I right this, it makes me realize that if this is one of my life's bigger dilemmas then life must be going pretty darn well- which it is :) And what about when I @reply to people on twitter?! Not that I do it very often, but then people on facebook won't understand the context which could make me look kooky.

I am going to do it. Well, first I am going to figure out how to actually make it happen, then I am going to link them for a week or so and see what I think. If it stays- obviously I like it. And if not, it means that I prefer to update all my different "portals" to keep all the various people who happen to care about my thoughts up to date on the latest.

Hmm...i would rather be contemplating this in life then focusing on the swine flu. Just wash your hands folks! Cleanliness is next to Godliness.

I think I like global warming...

I know that is a horrible thing to say, but the weather here in SF has been so hot and lovely!! One of the things I have missed the most about Southern California (besides the beaches and my girlfriends of course!!) is the fabulous weather. And, what have we here? A heat wave has struck Northern California!!!

It has been so gorgeous out the past few days! Ok, maybe a little on the "too hot" side, but I am not going to complain. If global warming is the cause of this and the not so cold winter we had - I might not mind it. I kid, I kid...kind of.

Well, I am not sure how much longer this sunshine is going to last, but I am going to soak up the sun enjoying wearing my summer dresses. And, hopefully, get a tan on my lunch break!!

Time to Get Started...

I have realized that if I would like to retire from the corporate world by the time i am 30 and live a life of blogging and luxury- then I better become more diligent with new posts. I am going to aim for every other day, but bare with me in the beginning. I can't even force myself to the gym in the morning, and I am thinking this challenge is going to fall in the same category.

I have decided I should finally make my new years resolutions...in April. Better late then never, right? Or is it better never late?! Whatever. So, first I am resoluting (is that a word) to take more pictures. I don't want to be an old lady with no memory of my twenties because I never pulled my camera out. With this resolution though, I am also resoluting not to become the paparazzi of my friends either. There is a fine line between capturing memories and being annoying. I don't want to be the latter.

Second, I need to go to the gym in the morning. I feel better about the day and can't push it off as easily as at the end of the day. I think I might be better at this if, when I get up to take Delilah out in the mornings, spikes grew on my side of the bed so I couldn't get back in and then HAD to go to the gym. Gym or be poked to death?! Choices Choices. But then I might just end up on the couch...hmmm.

Third, improve my hearing capabilities. Michael thinks I am deaf. I am pretty positive that I always scored 100% in elementary school when the mobile hearing RV came to school and they made me listen to the bird noises and click the jeopardy clicker. But something has clearly happened. Am I too young for a hearing aid? Do they make them small and in pink?!

So, as of right now- those are the only things I am resolving to change...but I am sure there will be more to come. I think it is better to take them in little chunks as opposed to promising the world in January and hating life by February. Anways, why would I do that to myself- my birthday is in February?!

Oh, and Jack- here is your shout out.

xo and much love,
kelsey
